Electrical Design Engineer

Job Purpose:

The role is to be responsible for the preparation of Detailed engineering documents including Layout, SLD, and Design documents
for AC sizing, SCADA architecture, Detailed BoM, and Plant performance verification after installation of the power plant.

Description of the roles and responsibilities:

• Single point responsibility for project engineering during detailed engineering phase for Ground / roof mounted solar systems by doing Detailed system design, arriving at optimum generation data, preparing layouts, bill of material and SLDs as a part of submission to customer in coordination with Project Manage.
• Preparation & Review of technical specification for complete AC electrical system (Transformers, HT Switchgear panels, LT panels, Cables, UPS, Chargers, Substation Equipment’s)
• Preparation of SLDs for various voltage levels (LV to EHV), Protection and Metering Diagrams.
• Preparation of design basis report & Electrical calculations such as Load schedule, Adequacy checks, Cable sizing, Earthing calculation, Lightning protection, Cable schedules, Interconnection diagrams.
• Substation Equipment layouts, Cable tray and trench Layouts, Earthing layouts, illumination and Lightning Protection Layouts, Busduct layouts, & Switchyard layouts.
• Equipment sizing (Transformers, Battery and Battery chargers, UPS, CT & PT).
• Preparation & development of complete substation systems and Overhead transmission line system
• Review of Relay setting coordination for Complete AC system and Switchyard, for the solar plant.
• Estimation of Bill of materials for various Electrical systems.
• Vendor drawing review for various electrical equipment(, Power & Auxiliary Transformers, Switchgear panels, Switchyard equipment , cables Busducts etc,).
• Co-ordination with contractors, client, interdepartmental and with vendors for interfacing, expediting and resolution of technical issues.
• Initiating, coordinating, and prioritizing the technical review process and providing technical approval for the projects.
• Comprehensive experience in design of 220kV ,132/110kV, 33kV substations
• Responsible for review and approval of detailed designs, drawings and procedures related to all transmission & substation components, such as step-up transformers, switchyard, interfacing with national and state grid policies, etc.
• Responsible for Preparation of RfPs for major components like transformers, HT and LT panels, UPS, Battery and battery chargers, SACDA.
• Responsible for correct plant performance estimation and arriving at optimum Bill of Materials.
• Responsible for design and execution of Fault level and relay coordination
• Preparation of As-built drawings and providing plant performance for handing over the project to Operation and maintenance.
• Responsible for obtaining necessary inputs from internal / external customers for designing optimum electrical system and attending customer meetings as and when necessary.
• Responsible for smooth transfer of information to Projects / SCM / QA and O&M and other customers.
• Responsible for on time preparation and submission of documents for execution of the project. Skills and tools
• expertise in MS office package
• working knowledge of Helioscope, AutoCAD & Google SketchUp
• Should have bird’s eye view on entire electrical system evacuation including civil and structural elements of solar system
• Excellent communication skills – written and spoken – English and Hindi
